A Dispersive or Dispersion Prism is a type of optical prism which have a shape of a geometrical triangular Prism. It is also known as a type of optical prism.Triangular prisms are mostly use to disperse light which means to break light up into several components. This happens because the angle of refraction is dependent on the refractive index of a certain material which in turn depends slightly on the wavelength of light which is travelling through. This indicates that the wavelength of light travels at different speed so that the light will disperse into colours of the visible spectrum. The longer wavelength(red, yellow) refracted less than the shorter wavelength(violet, blue).
